Season Ends For Clippers on Double Steal in First |
For the second time in as many state tournament appearances, the Watkins Clippers were eliminated in a game in which they lost 1-0 and they only got one hit. Last time was in 2007 when they lost a game that took place over two days as they fell to Holdingford, with the only hit a double by Eric Malvin. This year, the loss was to the Winsted Wildcats, with the lone Clipper hit a double by Todd Geislinger.

Clippers Beat Princeton; Face Winsted in 2nd Round |
Entering the State Tournament as the #2 seed from a region can sometimes be a challenge. But it was a challenge that the Watkins Clippers faced head-on as they took care of the Princeton Panthers 5-1 in their opening round game. Bruce Geislinger picked up the win for the Clippers, who took advantage of six Panther errors en route to the victory.

Watkins Headed to State; Kimball Still One Win Away |
Clutch: Good performance under pressure when good performance really matters. May refer to such a situation (being in the clutch), or to a player (a good clutch hitter or one who "can hit in the clutch"), or to specific hits ("that was a clutch hit"). All three definitions can be used to describe the Watkins Clippers victory over the Kimball Express on Friday night.
